“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Ps 23: 4
The NIV version of the Bible states, “I will fear no evil”; however, other versions express it as, “I will not be afraid” or “I fear no danger.”
Examining the Old Testament Hebrew, the phrase can be transliterated as “I will not be fearful, afraid, bad, unpleasant, or evil.” This is a profound statement: We will not be afraid in our darkest moments. Even in grief and loss, we will not fear. When we find ourselves homeless on the street due to job and home loss, we will not be afraid.
